About Jane

I've always observed the world in an artistic way, seeing compositions, colors, and patterns in my mind. Recently, I began to put those observations into my own artwork. Prior to this, I was raising four children and teaching art to high school kids struggling with emotional & substance abuse disorder. Both of those experiences reinforced my need to keep life simple and to seek beauty in the basics.

My art is about colors and patterns. The challenge for me lies in using what I find to be simple and beautiful subjects (like flowers, vines, plants, fruit, etc.) and incorporating them with other elements of art, creating a piece that is cohesive and interesting to experience.

My professional training came from the John Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I later went on to get my Masters in the Visual Arts from Purdue University.

The mediums I presently work in are acrylic paint, watercolors, and ink.
